Doutonbori
中華めん処 道頓堀
Just steps from Chikatetsu-narimasu Station, Doutonbori serves seafood-dashi chuka soba and tangy tsukemen built around springy house-made noodles.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
The rich scent of dried fish dashi greets diners the moment they take a seat. Located in Narimasu, Itabashi Ward, Doutonbori has long been a neighborhood fixture. The signature chuka soba features a mellow broth layering soy sauce with the umami of bonito and niboshi dried sardines, topped in classic fashion with chashu pork, menma bamboo shoots, nori seaweed, narutomaki fish cake, and wakame. Pliant house-made noodles slip down smoothly, their wheaty character complementing the broth with every bite.
Alongside chuka soba, tsukemen served with an intensified dipping broth remains a staple choice. A touch of acidity balances the seafood broth, yielding a clean, punchy profile unburdened by excess sweetness that lets the noodles stand front and center. Packed with chashu pork, wakame, bamboo shoots, and narutomaki, the dipping bowl invites you to dunk generous bundles of noodles and slurp them straight down.
Beyond the soy-based offerings and tsukemen, the shio ramen has earned its own loyal following. Rather than leading with aggressive salinity, the soup is round and gentle, enlivened by a subtle kick of red chili pepper. It comes garnished with both lean thigh and rich belly chashu, allowing guests to savor the contrast in meat textures.
The shop is comfortable for solo diners and operates across lunch and dinner services, though food preparation and serving can take some time. With regular closures on Wednesdays and Thursdays, it is best enjoyed when you have ample time to settle in and savor a bowl.
